DICTIONARY PROJECT
Dictionary Project: Lexington Park Rotarians annually distribute some 600 dictionaries to third graders in 15 elementary schools throughout the southern portion of St. Mary's County. This is part of a District 7620 initiative to get a dictionary in the hands of every student in the state of Maryland and the District of Columbia where the District has a presence. Club members find a special reward in giving dictionaries to students who are instantly appreciative.

CHRISTMAS IN APRIL
Christmas in April: Each year, the local
arm of the national Christmas in April (Now known as Rebuilding
Together) organization selects a number of deserving homes in the
immediate community. These homes exhibit great need for major
repairs that still fall within the abilities of local civic minded
community groups to affect. The St. Mary's County Rotary Club
(Lexington Park) regularly participates in this event. In the top
picture, Lexington Park Rotarians pose with students and
professional home builders who teamed to restore one of 28 homes
selected for Christmas in April for 2009.

CHARITY
CHARITY: The Charity Research committee is
the arm of the Club that seeks and qualifies eligible local
charities worthy of financial support. The Charity Research
Committee focuses specifically on local needs for food, shelter and
energy. During the year, the Club grants of $100, $500, $1,000 and
more are given to deserving organizations. Overall charitable
giving averages $25K to 30K per year. All charitable funds are
managed through the Foundation of the Rotary Club of Lexington
Park. This fund is supported through generous donations and the
club's fund raising initiatives.
